Stars, Galaxies, and the Universe

| Light-year | The distance light travels in one year |
| Fusion | Creation of energy by joining the nuclei of two hydrogen atom to form helium. |
| Convection | Heat transfer in a gas or liquid by the circulation of currents from one region to another. |
| Corona | The outer layer of the sun's atmosphere |
| Sunspot | A cooler darker spot appearing periodically on the sun's photosphere. |
| Solar wind | A stream of electrically charged particles produced by the sun's corona. |
| Parallax | An apparent shift in the position of an object when viewed from different positions. |
| Nebula | A large cloud of dust and gas that can break apart into smaller pieces and form stars. |
| Neutron Star | May occur when a supergiant collapses to a very dense core. |
| Black hole | An object whose gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. |
| Main Sequence | The stage in which stars produce energy through the fusion of hydrogen into helium. |
| Doppler Effect | An observed change in the frequency of a wave when the source or observer is moving |
