What is continental drift? The idea that the continents move very slowly over millions of years.
Pangaea Supercontinent 255 million years ago
How do scientists learn about the inside of the Earth? By studying seismic (earthquake) waves
What are the basic three layers of the earth? The crust, mantle, and core
Edible Can be eaten
What is the core made out of? Mostly iron & nickel
Why is the outer core liquid and the inner core solid? Higher pressure on the inner core cause the metal to be in a solid state.
Describe the crust. Thin, rocky, outer layer; brittle
Describe the Mantle Denser than the crust, mostly solid yet flows slowly
