| convection | heat transfer in a gas or liquid by the circulation of currents from one region to another |
| corona | the outer layer of the suns atmosphere |
| Doppler Effect | An observed change in the frequency of a wave then the source or observer is moving. |
| fusion | creation of energy by joining the nuclei of two hydrogen atoms to form helium. |
| light year | the distance light travels in one year |
| main sequence | the stage in which stars produce energy through the fusion of hydrogen into helium |
| nebula | a large cloud of dust and gas that can break apart into smaller pieces and form stars |
| neutron star | may occur when a super giant collapses to a very dense core |
| parallax | an apparent shift in the position of an object when viewed from different locations |
| solar wind | a stream of electrically charged particles produced by the suns corona |
| sunspot | a cooler darker spot appearing periodically on the suns photo sphere. |
