Predicting Weather

stratus clouds low, sheetlike gray clouds
cumulus clouds puffy clouds that are flat on the bottom - they signal fair weather
cirrus clouds wispy clouds that are made of ice crystals
cumulonimbus clouds puffy, layering clouds that are flat on the bottom and dark - bring rain, thunder, and lightning
air mass a large body of air with the same temperature and humidity throughout
front a place where two different air masses meet
cold front cold air mass bumps against a warm air mass - causes strong storms and cooler temperatures
warm front warm air mass meets a colder air mass and slowly rises over it - brings rain and warmer temperatures
stationary front forms when two air masses meet and stop moving - brings clouds and precipitation
