Uniformitarianism the geological principle that the same processes hat operate today in the past to change Earths surface
Erosion The gradual wearing or weathering of the earth’s surface by running water, rain, wind, waves, and other natural forces.
Weathering The processes by which rock and other material at the earth’s surface is broken down and decomposed by the actions of rain, running water, oxidation, wind, and other natural mechanical and chemical means.
Mechanical weathering a type of weathering where rock is physically broken
Chemical weathering is the process that breaks down rock through chemical changes
soil material in the top layer of the surface of the earth in which plants can grow (especially with reference to its quality or use)
bedrock solid unweathered rock lying beneath surface deposits of soil
humus partially decomposed organic matter; the organic component of soil
fertility the property of producing abundantly and sustaining vigorous and luxuriant growth

natural resource materials or substances such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that occur in nature and can be used for economic gain.
soil conservation the preventing of soil loss from erosion or reduced fertility caused by over usage, acidification, salinization or other chemical soil contamination.
