| streams | Small, flowing bodies of fresh water that flow into rivers |
| lakes/ponds | Areas of fresh water that are surrounded by land; differ in size |
| glaciers | Huge sheets of ice that cover land; found where temperatures are very cold |
| landforms | Natural shapes or features on the Earth's surface. |
| volcano | An opening in Earth's surface from which lava flows. |
| mountains | A place on Earth's surface where the land is much higher than the land that surrounds it. |
| plateau | A mountain area that has a flat top. |
| valley | A lowland area between higher areas such as mountains. |
| canyon | A deep valley with very steep sides. |
| cavern | A large cave or underground chamber. |
| island | An area of land tha is entirely surrounded by water.These are sometimes located in lakes, or out from a seashore. |
