| 1969 | Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are the first men on the moon. They flew in Apollo 11. |
| 2012 | Rover Curiosity makes it to Mars. |
| 1957 | Russians launch the first satellite into space named Sputnik. |
| 2003 | Space shuttle Columbia explodes over Texas. |
| 1990 | Shuttle Discovery carries Hubble Telescope to orbit. |
| 2011 | Shuttles are retired. NASA works on Ares and Orion. |
| 2004 | Spirit and Opportunity Rovers land on Mars. |
| 1981 | The US launches its first space shuttle, Columbia. |
| 1986 | US Shuttle Challenger explodes with Christa McAuliffe on board |
