| Diamante | A poem with 7 lines with a Italian origin; looks like a diamond |
| Free verse | Free-flowing poem without a rhyme scheme or rhythm usually emotional |
| Haiku | Japanese poem with strict guidelines written to praise nature; 3lines with a syllabication pattern of 5, 7, 5; no rhyme scheme or use of metaphors/similes |
| Limerick | A poem with 5 lines that makes fun ;lines 1, 2 and 5 contain 3 beats or rhyme ; lines 3 and 4 contain 2 beats and rhyme; rhyme scheme is always a a b b a |
| Rhyme poem | A poem in which that lasts words of 2 or more lines rhyme in a pattern |
| Acrostic poem | A poem using a word written vertically, next to each letter is a poetic statement |
| Alphabet poem | A poem using the alphabet to describe a topic |
| Concrete poem | A poem that forms a shape or a picture with its words |
| Hint Pink | A two , one-syllable rhyme word combination answering a riddle |
