Music Terms 1

Basic music terms for beginning music students.

staff 5 line, 4 space grid for notating music
line note a note located on a line of the staff
space note a note located in the space between lines of a staff
repeat sign double bar lines with two dots indicating a section of music to be repeated
measure the area of a staff defined by two bar lines and containing a specific number of beats
bar lines short vertical lines separating the staff into measures
double bar line two bar lines placed close together indicating the end of a section of music
