Animal cells

Cytoplasm Watery environment in which life functions take place by means of organelles contained in it; made of starch (a polysaccharide)
Chloroplasts Contains energy
Cell Wall Made of cellulose; protects and supports plant cell and maintains shape
Golgi Apparatus Protein packaging structure; important in endocytosis and exocytosis
Endoplasmic Reticulum Provides channels that carries messages through the cytoplasm
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Has ribosomes attached; common in cells that emit proteins
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Has no ribosomes; organelle is where fats are made; common in cells that emit hormones
Ribosomes Creates proteins
Centrosome Contains centrioles that are functional during the production of animal cells
Nucleus Information center for cell reproduction and other cell functions
Nucleolus Acts as a reservoir for RNA (Ribonucleic Acid)
Mitochondria Sites of cellular respiration and energy production; more active cells have a larger mitochondria
Vacuoles Reservoirs for water, dissolved materials, and wastes; maintains internal pressure of a cell
Chromosomes Contains the hereditary information material (DNA); are the agents for distribution of hereditary information
