| positive charge | An electric charge with more protons than electrons; the opposite of a negative charge |
| static electricity | electric charges that build up on an object |
| contact | the act of touching |
| negative charge | an electrical charge in which there is a build up of electrons; the opposite of a positive charge |
| energy | the ability to do work or cause change; can be changed into different forms and can move between objects |
| friction | a force that opposes the motion of a body across a surface or through a gas or liquid |
| stored energy | energy in an object or substance that is not being given off by the object or substance |
| electron | a subatomic particle with a negative charge |
| lightning | a large discharge of electricity through the air that balances a difference in electric charge between one cloud and another or between clouds and the ground |
