These are our science terms for the week!
Term | Definition |

Fossil | The remains or impression of a prehistoric organism preserved in petrified form or as a mold or cast in rock |
Plastic | a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, etc., that can be molded into shape while soft and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form. |
Fossil Fuel | a natural fuel such as coal or gas, formed in the geological past from the remains of living organisms |
Coal | a combustible black or dark brown rock consisting mainly of carbonized plant matter, found mainly in underground deposits and widely used as fuel |
Gasoline | refined petroleum used as fuel for internal combustion engines. |
Oil | a viscous liquid derived from petroleum, especially for use as a fuel or lubricant |
Rubber | a tough elastic polymeric substance made from the latex of a tropical plant or synthetically |
Resource | a source of supply, support, or aid, especially one that can be readily drawn upon when needed |
Nonrenewable | existing in finite quantity; not capable of being replenished |
Natural Gas | flammable gas, consisting largely of methane and other hydrocarbons, occurring naturally underground (often in association with petroleum) and used as fuel |
