1.What will you learn about in this section? In this section you will discover how Japanese culture was influenced by it's proximity.
2.What is Japan? Japan is an archipelago, near the cost of Asia.
3.What is the land in Japan? Japan consists of four large islands and thousands of smaller ones.
4.How are the lands connected? A ridge of volcanic mountains runs the length of the island chain.
5.Does Japan have mountains? Japan is so mountainous that less than 20 percent of it's land can be used for farming.
6.What is the ring of fire? The Japanese island sit at the boundary between two planes.
7.What are those two planes? Million of years ago, volcanoes erupted along this plane boundary.
8.How are these planes dangerous? The planed beneath Japan are constantly pushing one another.
9.How is Japan part of the ring of fire? A region of volcanoes and earthquakes that circle the Pacific Ocean.
10.Does Japan have neighbors? Korea is separated from Japan by more that 200 miles of ocean.
11.Where was the first settlers from? The first settlers in Japan came from the mainland of Asia.
12.When did the first wave of settlers came? The first wave of settlers most likely came during the Ice Age.
