Tectonic Plates
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Oceanic crust | composed of pieces that cover the ocean floor, always moving |
| Continental crust | forms our continents |
| Mid-Oceanic Ridge | large mountain range underwater between continents |
| convergent boundaries | tectonic plates that move into one another(can result in the formation of mountain ranges) |
| subduction | where one plate rises over another as they collide, and the other sinks underneath(can also form a mountain range) |
| divergent boundaries | plates are pushed away from one another |
| transform boundary | plates slide against each other(can cause earthquakes) |
| Pangaea | "Super-Continent," When all of the continents were part of the same landmass |
