Ecosystem cards

role a part played by something – what one does for an entire system
community the living parts of an ecosystem, - plants and animals
habitat where an organism lives, its home
food web shows how food chains are connected to other food chains with an ecosystem
ecosystem places that include both living and non-living things and how they interact and depend on each other
scarcity When there is not much of one organism or object
producers organisms that make food – use sunlight to make food
food chain the steps in which organisms get the food they need to live
organisms a form of life – a type of living thing
population only one type of organism (living thing) from a specific community
decomposers break down waste and remains of other organisms
consumers use food that producers make or they eat other organisms
omnivore an animal that eats both plants an animals
herbivore an animal that only eats plants
carnivore an animal that only eats other animals
What would happen if all if all producers died? Then the consumers would die and eventually everything would die.
