Parts of a Flower
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Stigma | A female part of the flower where pollen germinates. |
| Pollen | A microscopic body that contains the male reproductive cell of a plant. |
| Anther | Pollen-producing structure in the male organ of the flower. |
| Filament | A very fine threadlike structure that supports the Anther. |
| Stamen | Male reproductive part of the flower, consisting of the Anther and the Filament. |
| Ovary | The enlarged basal portion of the pistil that holds the ovules. It will mature into a fruit, either dry and parchmentlike or fleshy, enclosing the seeds. |
| Ovule | When fertilized, it will develop into a seed. |
| Pollen Tube | It transports the male pollen grain from the stigma to the ovules for fertilization. |
| Pistil | The female, or seed-bearing part of the flower. |
