text and graphic features

| text feature | a written feature that gives the reader extra information |
| caption | gives information about a picture/photograph |
| bulleted list | a record of similar ideas that are set apart in text using bullets or dots |
| diagram | a chart or graph that explains an object; a labeled illustration |
| media forms | types of media used to give information (commercial, speech, advertisement, documentary, internet, newspaper, tv, radio) |
| graph | a diagram that shows connections between 2 or more items or concepts |
| graphic | a visual image (diagram, illustration, symbol, drawing, photograph, graph) |
| grid | a map with horizontal and vertical lines used that uses coordinates to locate specific points |
| heading | a word of group of words located at the beginning of a page, section, or chapter |
| illustration | a picture, diagram, drawing or map used to explain or decorate |
| label | a word or phrase that identifies or describes |
| logo | a design or picture used to represent a topic, product, organization or company |
| map | a visual representation that shows a geographic location |
| table | an arrangement of information or data in columns |
| time line | sequence of related events arranged in chronological order along a line |
