Poetry Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Stanza Several lines grouped together in a poem
Rhyme Words at the end of a line that have the same ending sound. Example: just and trust
Rhythm Meter or beat. You can clap to the poem
Speaker The person or animal reading the lines in a poem
Line break The end of the line
Poet whomever wrote the poem
Lyrical Poem Feelings/mood, CAN have rhythm/rhyme
Free Verse Poem NO rhythm/rhyme, read like you talk
Narrative Poem Tells story, (beginning, middle end, problem/solution), CAN have rhythm/rhyme
