TermDefinition
Dynamics How loud or soft you play music.
Dot (on the side of a note) Adds HALF the value of the NOTE IT FOLLOWS.
Slur A curved line that connects 2 or more notes of DIFFERENT pitches.
Tie A curved line that connects 2 or more notes of the SAME pitch.
Tempo How fast or slow you play the music.
Articulation How you perform a note.
Coda An added ending.
Dal Segno (DS) Repeat from the sign.
Da Capo (DC) Repeat from the beginning.
Fine The end.
Repeat Sign 2 dots before the double bar, go back to the beginning OR the first repeat sign.
Eighth Note When you attach a flag/beam to quarter note.
What do you do to the first note in a slur? You tongue it.
How much is a dotted quarter note worth? 1 1/2 beats.
