1. What is the ultimate source of thermal energy? (LT 1) Thermal energy is a scientific term for heat. So, the biggest source of heat is the Sun, as it's rays heat up the planet and it's atmosphere continuously.
2. Where does the Sun’s radiation hit most directly on Earth? Least direct? (LT 2) The equator catches 12 hours of daylight every day all year, as it's in the very middle of the planet. The poles, however, catch the least, going 6 MONTHS in darkness. for the rest of the year, the sun stays rather low in the sky, until it sets once more.
