Insect Terms

Butterfly antennae are... Straight with knobby ends

What are the three main body parts of an insect? 1) Head 2) Thorax 3) Abdomen
What are an insects feelers? Antennae
Where are the antennae located? The head
What do the antennae do? They touch and taste
What is the life cycle of an insect? 1) Egg 2) Larva 3) Chrysalis 4) Pupa 5) Adult
What is the head? The first part of an insect's body
What is the thorax? The middle part of an insect's body
What is the abdomen? The last part of an insect's body
How many legs do insects have? 6 legs
What is an exoskeleton? The hard covering on the outside of the insect.
What does the exoskeleton do? Protects the insect from harm?
