Parts of the Cell

This will describe all 13 parts of the cell!

QuestionAnswer
What is the job of the Ribosome? The job of the Ribosome is to create proteins for parts throughout the cell.
What is the job of the Mitochondria? The job of the Mitochondria is to produce ATP a molecule that provides energy for essential functions throughout the cell.
What is the job of the Lysosome? Lysosomes contain digestive enzymes that will get rid of unneeded food particles, bacteria and or viruses, and worn out organelles.
What is the job of the Nucleus? The Nucleus is the "brain" of the cell it contains proteins and acids to carry out the basic functions of the cell. It is also considered to be the largest organelle in some cells.
What is the job of the cell wall and cell membrane? The cell wall is probably the most defensive part of the cell. The cell wall consists of cellulose. The cell membrane allows nutrients in and out of the cell, it also keeps the cytoplasm separate from the outside of the cell
What is the job of the Golgi Body or Golgi ? The Golgi Body's basic job is to package and send nutrients around different parts of the cell it is also made up of membrane-bound sacs.
What is the job of the Nucleolus? The Nucleolus plays a vital role in the making of rRNA or ribosomal RNA, it is located inside the Nucleus and is very useful in the fact that it starts the making of ribosomes.
What is the job of the Chloroplasts? The Chloroplasts are only located in plant cells and are the "Solar panels" of the cell, what this means is that they absorb the sun's light and turn it into energy.
What is the job of the Endoplasmic Reticulum? The Endoplasmic Reticulum or ER work very closely with the Golgi Body, for the most part it sends proteins from the Golgi Body around the rest of the cell.
What is the job of the Cytoplasm? The Cytoplasm is what holds all the organelles together and without it the cell and its organelles would fall apart. But the most basic job for the Cytoplasm is to hold all organelles together and even holds the structure of the whole cell.
What is the job of the Vacuole? The Vacuole holds unneeded food particles and water, a fun fact is that the Vacuole is way bigger in the plant cell then the animal cell because plants usually rely more on water then anything else.
What is the job of the Nuclear membrane? The Nuclear membrane keeps the DNA from the Nucleus inside and also keeps materials in the Cytoplasm out.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
