| onomatopoeia | a term that describes a word that sounds like the object |
| personification | when an object is described as if it were human |
| point of view | the position of the speaker, 1st,2nd, or 3rd |
| repetition | when words, lines, or stanzas are repeated |
| rhyme | when two words have the same ending sound |
| rhyme scheme | this refers to the lines in the poem that rhyme, aa,bb or ab,ab |
