Astronomy The study of the moon, stars and other objects in space.
Axis An imaginary line that passes through the center of the Earth's North and South Poles
Rotation The spinning motion of a planet on it's axis.
24 hours The amount of time it takes for one full rotation
Day and Night Caused by rotation of the Earth on it's axis
Revolution The movement of the Earth around the sun.
365.25 days The amount of time it takes for one full revolution.
years and seasons What is created due to the Earth's revolution while tilted.
Seasons caused by the 23.5 degree tilt of the Earth
Fall Equinox around September 21st
Spring Equinox around March 21st
Winter Solstice around December 21st
Summer Solstice around June 21st
Summer Solstice more hours of day, tilted toward the sun, direct rays
Winter Solstice fewest hours of daylight, tilted away from the sun, indirect rays
Fall Equinox equal hours of day and night, 12 hours of each
Spring Equinox equal hours of day and night, 12 hours of each
Vernal Equinox Spring Equinox
