Chapter 3 in science text.- Discovery Works

QuestionAnswer
Waves Up and down movements in the ocean.
Crest The top of a wave.
Wavelength The distance between two successive waves.
Period The time it takes for two successive wave crests to pass the same point.
Fetch The distance the wind blows over open water.
Currents Water that moves through all parts of the ocean.
Coriolis effect The curving motion cause by earth's rotation.
Trade winds Planetary winds that move from east to west toward the equator.
Westerlies Winds that blow from west to east.
Upwelling The rising of deep water to the surface.
Turbidity Current When sediment mixes with ocean water it sinks to form this current.
