chemical produced by endocrine system; released directly into blood stream by ductless glands; affects specific target tissues and can speed up or slow down cellular activities hormone
lies deep in the brain, produces melatonin, regulates wake/sleep patters pineal glands
control sugar levels in blood stream. produces insulin pancreas
below larynyx, regulatres metabolism thyroid
regulates calcium levels parathyroid
