TermDefinition
Energy The ability to do work.
Kinetic Energy The energy of an object that is due to motion.
Potential Energy Stored energy.
Mechanical Energy The sum of an object's Kinetic and Potential energy.
Energy Transformation When energy changes from one form to another.
Law of Conservation of Energy Energy cannot be created or destroyed.
Electromagnetic Energy Is transmitted through space in the form of electromagnetic waves.
Electrical Energy The energy that results from the postition or motion of charged particles.
Thermal Energy The kinetic energy of an objects particles.
Nuclear Energy When an atoms nucleus breaks apart and the nuclei of two small atoms join join together energy is realesed.
Chemical Energy The amount of chemical energy in a molecule depends on the kinds of atoms and their arrangement.
Kinetic Theory Of Matter All particles with matter are constantly in motion.
Temperature A measure of average Kinetic Energy in an object.
Thermal Energy Total amount of Kinetic Energy present in an object.
Degree Equally spaced units between two points.
Thermometer Tool to measure Temperature
Position Location of an object
Reference Point a location to which you compare other locations
Motion A change in position.
Speed how far something moves.
Vector is a quantity that has both size and direction.
Velocity is speed ina specific direction.
