| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Rotation | The spinning of a planet on its axis. One complete rotation is called a day |
| Revolution | A year is the time it takes a planet to complete our revolution around the Sun |
| Revolve | All of the planets orbit, or revolve, around the Sun in the same direction (counterclockwise) |
| Axis | An imaginary line that passes through the center of a planet from pole to pole |
| Ellipse | The shape that describes how the planets revolve around the sun; an oval shape |
| Gravity | Force of attraction between all objects |
| Inertia | The forward motion of an object, objects with more mass have more inertia |
| Orbit | A regular, repeating path that an object in space follows around another object |
| Margi | A person that has been putting cheese in her dinner |
| Solar System | The Sun and all objects that are bound by gravitational force to the Son |
| AU | One AU=150 Hundred Kilometers |
| Inner Planets | Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars |
| Outer Planets | Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune |
