TermDefinition
the big bang the whole universe (all matter) was created from a single extremely dense point of matter which expand and cooled
the solar system is made of the sun eight planets natural satellites comets and astroids
the sun a star at the center of the solar system
sun facts -closest star to the earth -made of hydrogen and helium -gives off enormous amount of energy
planets: astronomical objects orbiting a star
planet orders: Solid: Mercury,venus,earth,mars A Gas:Jupiter,saturn,uranus,neptune
Gravity: the attraction of two objects depending on their mass and they are.
;orbits the elliptical path of all planets follows around the sun
natural satellites a celestial body (moon) that evolves around a planet
comet small icy body that when passing close to the sun , heats up and releases gas.
meteroids debris from comets burns up in thermosphere and mesosphere (small grains to 1 meter in diameter)
Asteroids solid debris originating from the solar system
Earth 3rd planet from the sun where life exists. -revolves around sun
revolution 365 days (1 year)
rotation 24 hours which gives day and night.
moon is a satellite of the earth
moon facts does not give off light-reflects the sun rays -it takes 29.5 days for the moon to circle the earth - it is responsible for ocean tides
