Heredity a passing trait from a parent to offspring
alleles an alternate form of that a gene may have for a single trait; can be a dominant or recessive.
genetics the study of how traits are inherited through the actions of alleles

dominant describes a trait that covers over or dominant another form of that trait.
recessive describes a trait that is covered over

homozygous describes an organize with 2 alleles
heterozygous describes an organism with 2 different alleles.

trait a distinguishing quality or characteristic, typically one belonging to a person
