Soil review questions

TermDefinition
Loam This type of soil is a mixture of sand, silt, and clay.
Clay Soil with the smallest particles.
Sand Soil with the largest particles.
Horizon Another name for a layer of soil.
Topsoil This layer of soil contains humus, plants, and animals.
Subsoil This layer of soil contains little humus, small rocks, and long tree roots.
Bedrock This layer of soil contains large rocks and no humus.
Soil This consists of rock particles, water, air, and humus.
Humus Decomposed organic material.
Nutrients Humus contains a lot of this that plants and animals need to grow.
Permeability How easily water flows through soil.
