Biotic Factors living things in an ecosystem
Organism a single individual species
Population a group of the same species living in the same place
Producer organisms that make their own food
Habitat a place where an organism lives
Food Web a diagram that show all feeding relationships
Ecology the study of interactions or relationships between organisms and their environment
Energy Pyramid a diagram that shows how much energy flows from one level to another
Abiotic Factors all nonliving things in an ecosystem
Ecosystem all living and nonliving things interacting in the same place at the same time
Community all organisms in the same place at the same time
Niche the role of a species in a community
Predator an organism that hunts, kills, and eats other organisms
Prey an organism that is killed and eaten by other organisms
Consumer Organisms that can not make their own food they must eat
Carnivore Organisms that eat only other animals
Herbivore consumers that eat only plants
Omnivore consumers that eat both plants and animals
Parasite an organism that lives on or in another organism and causes it harm
Food Chain the path that energy takes from one organism to another
Host an organism that is being fed upon by a parasite
