Cell theory Cells are the basic unit of life. All living things are made up of cells. All cells are made from other living cells.
Cell Wall Ridged outer layer of a plant cell
Plasma (Cell) Membrane controls what goes in and out of the cell
Nucleus Control Center
Cytoplasm A jelly-like substance that fills up the space between organelles
Chloroplast contains chlorophyll that traps sunlight to make glucose. (ONLY in the plant cell)
Ribosomes protein factories
Mitochondria The power house of the cell/ makes energy available to the cell.
Vacuole Stores food materials and water, and is much larger in the plant cell than animal cells.
Endoplasmic Reticulum highway of the cell/transports materials throughout the cell
Golgi Bodies manufacturing and shipping/materials stop here to be packaged
lysosomes Garbage Collectors
