stratus: | "spread out." fog, drizzly, rain - low greyish clouds - colder months - low in sky latitude |
How do clouds form? | When water vapor travels up to the cold layer of air, it condensses and changes to a liquid collecting on dust particals. |
How are clouds classified? | by altetude. (how high in air) |
How are clouds named? | Shape and position in the sky. |
Capacity: | The amount of water the air can hold |
absolute humidity: | the actual amount of water in the air *the mass of water vapor in a cubic meter of air |
relative humidity | the amount of water in the air compared to its capacity. warm air = move water cold air = less water measured in percent |
saturated | air is filled to capacity with water. - 100% filled - after that precipitation occurs |
