Circulatory System

Major Function of Circulatory System To carry oxygen, carbon dioxide, food, waste, disease fighting cells, and hormones) through out the body.
Parts of the Blood Platelets, plasma, red blood cells, hemoglobin, and white blood cells.
Platelets Helps in blood clotting.
Plasma liquid portion of blood
Red Blood Cells Carry oxygen.
Hemoglobin iron containing protein in red blood counts
White Blood Cells Produce antibodies to fight infections.
Major Organs of Circulatory System Heart, Artery, vein, and capillaries.
Heart Pumps blood throughout the body; separated into four chambers (2 atria and 2 chambers).
Artery Thickest blood vessel; carries oxygen rich blood AWAY from the heart.
Vein contains valves to keep oxygen poor blood going in one direction TOWARDS the heart.
Capillary Thinnest blood vessel; connects arteries to veins.
Circulatory systems and Other Systems Works with all systems to move good and bad things through out the body via blood. Endocrine - the blood also transports hormones generated by endocrine system.
