TermDefinition
Weathering Weathering is the break down of rock into smaller fragments
Mechanical weathering Mechanical weathering is the set of various processes of weathering that break apart rocks into particles sediment
Chemical weathering Chemical weathering is caused by rain water reacting with the mineral grains in rocks to form new minerals clays and soluble salts.
Soil Soil is made up of organic remains, weathered rocks, and minerals
Organic Matter Matter derived from organisms especially decayed matter in soil
Erosion Erosion is the removal of weathered rock material
Roots Roots provide water and nutrients to plants and also hold the plant in place
Topography Topography is the three-dimensional surface structure of an area, or the physical features of an area. Measurements of topography include not just horizontal north-south-east-west, but also elevation
Deposit Soil, sand, and rocks are always moving from one place to another
