| Compound | Substance made of two or more elements that are chemically combined. |
| Electron | Particle in an atom that has negative charge. |
| Element | Substance that can not be broken down into another substance. |
| Molecule | Two or more atoms joined together by a chemical bond. |
| Neutron | Particle in the nucleus of an atom that has no charge. |
| Nucleus | Central core of an atom. |
| Periodic table | Standardized table that organizes the elements by their properties. |
| Proton | Particle in nucleus of an atom that has positive charge. |
