PSSA Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Ecosystem a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.
Enviornment the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
Abiotic physical rather than biological; not derived from living organisms. devoid of life; sterile.
Biotic of, relating to, or resulting from living things, especially in their ecological relations.
Biomes a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g., forest or tundra.
Niche a position or role taken by a kind of organism within its community.
