What is a balanced diet? A balanced diet is the right amount of each type of biomolecules
List 4 factors that would affect the diet people need? Age, gender, activity, health
Why do babies need more food than adults? Babies are still growing so they need more food than adults
Do boys or girls need more food? Boys
Who needs more food, active people or inactive? Active people - they are using more energy and therefore need more food
How many levels does the food pyramid have? five
What food group do we need 6 servings of a day? Cereals, breads, potatoes
How many servings of fruit and vegetables should we have a day? five
Which level of the food pyramid is milk, cheese, yoghurt found? three
How many servings of meat and fish should we have a day? two
What foods should we have rarely? cakes, biscuits, chocolates
What is malnutrition? A diet that is not balanced
Give an example of malnutrition? Obesity
What causes obesity? Taking in too many calories and not exercising enough
What causes type two diabetes? Too much sugar and fat in the diet
What causes osteoporosis? Not enough calcium or vitamin D in the diet
What are people with osteoporosis more likely to suffer? Bone fractures
What causes anaemia? Not enough iron in the diet - not enough red blood cells
What symptoms do you get with anaemia? Tiredness, faintness
