TermDefinition
Weathering The properties of the atmosphere at a given time and location,including temperature, air, movement, and precipitation.
Mechanical Weathering Weathering processes that cause physical disintergration of rocks caused by chemical reactions.
Chemical Weathering The erosion or disintergration of rocks caused by chemical reactions.
Soil The outer layer of Earth's crust, made of bits or dead and animal material.
Organic Matter Organic compounds that come from remains of organisms.
Erosion Process of wind and water, ice, gravity, or natural forces that move sediment over.
Roots Plant organ that takes in water and nutrients from soil.
Topography Physical features which define the relief of a landscape.
Deposit Amount of rock or soil that has been laid down in an area.
