Enzymes

enzyme A type of protein that speeds up a chemical reaction in a living thing
catalyst A substance that speeds up the rate of a chemical reaction.
reactants Molecules entering or starting a reaction
products The elements or compounds produced by a chemical reaction
denature When heat changes the shape of an enzyme
active site Where on the enzyme the substrate attaches
substrate What an enzyme acts upon
activation energy The energy required to start a chemical reaction
