TermDefinition
producers Plants; use light energy from the sun to produce food
consumers Cannot make their own food so they must eat plants and/or other animals
decomposers Get energy by breaking down dead or decaying matter
Example of a producer plants
Example of a consumer animals
Example of a decomposer worms
Herbivore eats only plants
Carnivore eats only animals
Omnivore eats both plants and animals
Biotic all living things in one area
Abiotic all non-living things in one area
Population all the same species living in a certain area
Community all of the groups of populations in an area
Ecosystem the entire community plus abiotic factors
Example of a population all the deer living in a forest
Example of a community squirrels, deer, oak trees, grass in a forest
