Light waves

TermDefinition
Crest The highest a wave reaches.
Trough The lowest a wave reaches.
Wavelength The length of a wave. (Distance from trough to trough or crest to crest.)
Frequency The number of waves that pass in a given amount of time.
Amplitude The distance from the midpoint to a crest or trough.
Transverse wave A wave in which the crests and troughs move at right angles in the direction of the wave.
Reflection Light will bounce off the object.
Refraction The bending of light waves that enter a new medium.
Color Spectrum Each color made by light. (R.O.Y.G.B.I.V.)
