Science - Quarter 1

TermDefinition
Weight The pull of gravity on an object.
Mass The amount of stuff inside an object
Matter Anything that has mass and volume
Volume The amount of space an object occupies
Electron Particle orbiting around the nucleus with a negative charge.
Density How much matter in a specific amount of space. Measured in cm3.
Buoyancy The resistance to sink. Ability to stay on top of the water.
Graduated Cylinder Scale used to measure Volume. Usually a glass cylinder with measurements in mL
Nucleus The Center of an atom
Liquid Mass and volume stay the same, but shape changes.
Metals Elements with similar properties
Atom Smallest unit of an element
Property Things we can measure
Particle A name we give to things in science
Molecules Two or more atoms joined together
