What are the two functions of plant roots? To soak in water and nutrients from the soil and they anchor the plant
What are the function of plant leaves? To absorb sunlight as energy to make food.
Leaves make food for the plant to survive, without food the plant... will stop growing and die
The food made in the leaves is transported to other parts of the plant... for growth and survival
The size and shape of a plant's leaves are different from species to species because... different plant habitats have different amounts of sunlight
The flower of a plant is where the seeds are formed
The function of stems of a plant is to transport water and minerals to the leaves and flowers.
How do you know the stems of plants transport water and minerals? Evidence? We observed streaks of food coloring in the celery stalk and in the flower.
Physical characteristics of animals are body structures and body parts
What are some physical characteristics can protect animals from predators body color can camouflage animals, claws and pinchers can be used, hard shells to protect bodies
What physical characteristics can also help animals survive in their environment thick fur to protect from the cold, different sized/shaped beaks can help birds gather different kinds of food
The shape of a bird's beak is matched to the size and shape of the food it eats
If an animal is a vertebrate it has a backbone
Crayfish and beetles are both cold blooded and have no backbone (invertebrate).
