| 1. Volcano | A weak spot in the crust where magma comes to the surface. |
| 2. Lava | Molten rock above the earth's surface. |
| 3. Magma | Molten material beneath the earth's crust. |
| 4. Ring of Fire | All the volcanoes on the rim of the Pacific Ocean. |
| 5. Hot Spot | A region of molten rockbeneath the crust. |
| 6. Sheild volcano | A broad, domed, volcano with sloped sides. |
| 7. Composite volcano | A large, steep, volcano built up from layers of ash and lava. |
| 8. Cinder Cone volcano | A steep, cone shaped, volcano. |
| 9. Sill | When magma squeezes itself between layers of rock. |
| 10. DIke | When magma forces itself across layers of rock |
| 11. batholith | A large body of magma that hardens. |
| 12. Lava plateau | A high, flat, piece of land built by lava. |
| 13. extinct | No longer in existence. |
| 14. dormant | Inactive. Asleep |
| 15. active | Awake, being in the state of existence. |
| 16. Element | A substance that cannot be broken down into other substances. |
| 17. Viscosity | Determines weather a liquid flows fast or slow. |
| 18. Silica | A substance that makes magma thicker. |
| 19. Pahoehoe | Hot, fast-moving lava. |
| 20. aa | Cool, slow-moving lava. |
| 21. Compound | A substance made of two or more elements. |
| 22. Volcanic Ash | Fine rocky particles as small as a speck of dust. |
| 23. Magma chamber | An area underground that hold the volcanoes magma. |
| 24. Crater | The hole at the top of a volcano. |
| 25. Vent | A crack in the earth's crust. |
| 26. Pipe | A vertical hole which magma comes up to a volcano. |
| 27. Caldera | Happens when a volcano collapses. |
| 28. Hot spring | A spring of naturally hot water. |
| 29. Geyser | A hot spring where water shoots up in the air. |
