Change in Landforms

5th Grade Processes affect Earth's Surface

TermDefinition
Constructive Force This is a force or process that builds things on Earth's surface.
Deposition This is the process where wind, water, or ice may add a layer of sediment to a landform.
Destructive Force This is a force that tears down, wears away, or breaks apart landforms on Earth.
Earthquake This is a geologic event that occurs when tectonic plates are displaced violently.
Erosion This is the movement of soil, mud and rock due to the downward movement of wind, water or ic
Landform These are the many different types of terrain, characterized by elevation, slope, soil, etc.
Ocean Wave These usually result from wind and can travel hundreds of miles before they reach the shor
Tsunami This is a series of massive waves is generated in an ocean by earthquakes, landslides, volcanoes or meteor impact.
Volcano This is a landform that is formed by the eruption of magma through a vent from the interior of the earth.
Weathering This is the breakdown, mechanically, chemically, or biologically, of large rocks and minerals at the surface of Earth.
