TermDefinition
Skeleton The inner framework made of all the bones in the body
Vertebrae The small bones that make up the backbone
Joint A place in the body where two bones come together
ligament Strong connective tissue that holds bones together in moveable joints
Cartilage A connective tissue that is more flexible than bonge and that protects the ends of bones and keeps them from rubbing together
Compact bone Hard, dense bone tissue that is beneath the outer membrane of a bone
Spongy Bone Layer of bone tissue having many small spaces and found just inside the layer of contact
Marrow The soft connective tissue that fills the internal insides insides of the bone
Osteoporosis A condition in which the body's bones become waek and can break easily
