What is another name for a flowering plant? Angiosperm
What us another name for a cone bearing plant? Gymnosperm
Ovary Contains the ovules where the egg cells are produced.
Pistil The female part of the flower that contains the ovary, stigma, and style.
Stigma The sticky top where pollen grains land.
Style A stalk down which the pollen tube grows after pollenation has taken place.
Egg Contains the embryo
Ovule Contains the egg where new plants are formed.
Anther On a stalk, it produces pollen.
Stamen The male part of the flower that has an anther on a stalk.
Flowers Produce seeds, contain male and female parts, and have petals that attract insects.
Xylem Transports water from the roots to the leaves and other parts of the plant.
Phloem Transports food in leaves to the growing parts of the plant.
Fibrous Roots Many main roots to form a mass of roots.
Taproots One main root with many smaller roots coming off of it.
Thigmotropism The ability for a plant to close its leaves when touched.
Petals Are brightly colored in order to attract insects.
Sepal Green leaf like things that protected the flower as a bud.
What looks like a stalk that is part of the male part of a flower? The filament.
Pollen A yellow powder like substance that are the sperm cells in a flower.
