What is the importance of biodiversity? Variety allows organisms to adapt to changing environmental conditions.
What 3 things distinguish a biome? Climate, flora & fauna
What are the 2 main factors affecting global distribution of biomes? Rainfall & temperature
What do you call the 'living' factors that affect biodiversity? Biotic factors
What do you call the 'non-living' factors that affect biodiversity? Abiotic factors
Give 2 examples of how humans can impact biodiversity. Pollution & deforestation
Give 3 examples of biotic factors. Predation, grazing, disease
Name 4 abiotic factors. Temperature, moisture, light intensity & pH
What sampling technique would be used to sample the insects on a forest floor? Pitfall trap
What sampling technique would be used to sample the plants growing in a field? Quadrat
How would you correctly use a quadrat? Throw it randomly and repeat many times
What could be an error when setting up a pitfall trap? Not camouflaging it properly.
What would you use to measure light intensity? Light meter
What would you use to measure temperature? Thermometer
What would you use to measure the moisture or pH of the soil? Moisture or pH meter
